10 ways to get ready for spring

Every home has a story, and they are as vast and varied as the world is wide. But they all start with inspiration, and inspiration starts with our surroundings. That’s what home is. Family. Friends. A sense of place. An amazing view. It is all part of what makes a space a home because your home is where you truly live. As homeowners ourselves we understand that your best life begins with a home that inspires you.

“I glanced out the window at the signs of spring. The sky was almost blue, the trees were almost budding, the sun was almost bright.”

— Millard Kaufman

Spring is in the air, even if we are only in February. Here in California the sun starts to shine and well a few days of high 60’s and low 70’s and everyone starts getting all excited. Even the cherry blossom trees are starting to explode with blossoms which is always my favorite time of the year.  The transition from Winter to Spring is filled with excitement and the anticipation of getting out. We might be in the middle of the COVID pandemic but aren’t you just itching to get out and suck in some fresh spring air.

If you are like us we are already starting to talk about everything we want to do this year. Below is a list of 10 things you should be thinking about and planning now for Spring. No better time than now as momma always said. If you take the time now in February you’ll be ready when March hits and the flowers are in full bloom, your garden is starting to show signs of love and the home will be spic and span.

1. Ditch The Winter Attire

The first thing I like to do is rid myself of all these warm weather clothes and start packing. Getting dressed is so much easier when you aren’t sifting through off-season clothing. Move your sweaters and jeans to the bottom drawers, and dig out the capris and t-shirts from last summer. If you are limited on space, use under-the-bed storage bins LIKE THESE to store your boots, long sleeved shirts and winter coats. No sense in letting these items take up the prime real estate in your closet! Looking for storage solutions to keep your clothes hidden away till next Winter check these out.  Winter Clothe Storage Solutions

2. Buy A Few Spring Things

Now since we are ditching the winter britches perhaps we should consider buying some new spring things… I like the way we just made into a rhyme… I don’t know about you, but the start of every spring leaves me wondering what I was wearing last summer. And even if your supplies aren’t low, it’s always nice to spice up the wardrobe with a few new pieces. At the very least, I like to get something casual, something a little dressier, and definitely some new flip flops. Nothing better than having a fun new outfit waiting for the first warm day of spring! Check out these awesome Spring outfits.

3. Get Your Exercise Going

You know it’s coming…shorts, swim suits, and short-sleeves. Sometimes it’s tough to shed the winter clothing layers, but there’s no avoiding it. So because you will be exposing more skin soon, give yourself the gift of regular exercise – starting now. Whether it’s a daily walk, jog, or trip to the gym, it’s amazing how much easier it feels to slide on the shorts when you have been working out.

And because I love you, I’ve got to let you know about THIS post. It’s all about learning how to love yourself – and your body – even when you’re wearing a swim suit. Be sure to check it out!

4. Take Care Of Your Skin

While we are exercising it’s important to get our skin in shape. Personally I do very little to make my beautiful skin shine… That’s because I am a guy. this clearly is Andee’s departments so I will let her explain… Go Andee Pantz!

Hello, did you know studies show that daily sunscreen application slips through the cracks during the winter months. Did you know that March, April, and May are the most common months for sunburns? We start to spend more time outside but the temperatures are still cool, so it’s easy to forget about sun damage. So lather on your favorite sunscreen

7. Clean The BBQ

Some guys might disagree and I was one of those guys for many years that refused to clean the grill. I always claimed the grizzle is the best leave it on the grill and it makes the next Que all the better. Kind of like a black skillet… NOT! A few sick spells later I soon realized grill cleaning is essential for eating healthy, staying healthy and well the food actually does taste better when the grill is clean. There a lots of ways to clean the many different grills out there here are a few tips and some great grilling tools you can use to clean, cook and dazzle at you next outing.

9. Get Your Outdoor Space In Order

If you don’t live in one of the warm climates like California, Texas, Florida then February might still be a bit early to break out the outdoor furniture and set the stage for the Spring and Summer outdoor festivities.

Here in California we can practically spend all year outside so outdoor space is one of the big priorities for most homeowners. In fact it’s not at all uncommon to live in a small home with a lot of outdoor space. Some of us call this “Napa Style“. If you are in one of the warmer climates then now is the time to break out the outdoor sectional, dining table and pull the covers off all the furniture and ready the space for entertaining. Fill the propane tanks, sweep the walk ways and hang lights and replace broken or burnt out one.

10. Plan The Summer Vacation

Don’t you just hate it when you finally decide on a summer vacation, but everything is booked up? Beat the system this year by making some early decisions. You’ll get better rates, more options for accommodations, and lots more time to get excited about it!
