Every home has a story, and they are as vast and varied as the world is wide. But they all start with inspiration, and inspiration starts with our surroundings. That’s what home is. Family. Friends. A sense of place. An amazing view. It is all part of what makes a space a home because your home is where you truly live. As homeowners ourselves we understand that your best life begins with a home that inspires you.

1. Canopy of Lights
Nothing will make your January quite as bright as a DIY canopy of lights.
“No longer just for backyard patios, these mini lights offer indoor delight as well,” says designer Ana Cummings, of ANA Interiors. “They add a moment of joy and drama to an otherwise blah surface. It’s so dark in the winter, and if you aren’t a fan of candles, these are definitely the way to go when you want to add a little extra spark.”

2. Luxe Velvet Headboard
Looking for a small change that can enhance the entire look of your bedroom? Then you might just like a richly textured one-and-done velvet headboard.
“Who doesn’t love a plush headboard in a cozy bedroom?” asks Cummings. “With fabric technology getting better and better every year, the worries of having a velvet headboard are no more. The softest velvet fabrics are now offered in performance grades, which means your hair products won’t affect the surface.
“I also love the unique ways you can customize a velvet headboard, whether it be a funky profile or a beautifully tufted pattern,” she adds.

3. All-White Bedroom
Fresh starts are a big theme this time of year, and what could be fresher than a new coat of white paint on the walls of your bedroom.
“The all-white bedroom trend is popular because of the minimalist outlook it brings to a room,” says designer Lily Wili, founder of Ever Wallpaper. “It brightens the space, making it seem bigger and more open. It’s also super cost-effective when doing a room makeover since almost any color goes with white. And you won’t need to invest in new furniture.”

4. Wild Fabric Wallpaper
For a fresh 2022 look that’s a bit bolder than all-white, you might just find inspiration in artsy wallpaper.
“Now these are fun,” says Cummings. “We used to see these wild patterns primarily in powder rooms, and we still do. But now, they’re transitioning into living spaces, ceilings, hallways, and feature walls. A fabulously spirited wall covering is perfect for a statement wall. You might even use it as inspiration for the color palette in adjacent rooms.”

5. Upcycled Armoire
Something about new beginnings makes us crave a bit of old-world grounding with an updated twist. And an upcycled armoire fits the bill.
“People are painting any kind of dresser, nightstand, tea table, armoire, or chest and giving these pieces new life,” says Cummings. “They look so beautiful in any interior. And painted the right shade, it can inject a room with a lot of personality while offering extra storage. With little extras like new hardware and interior lining with a vibrant wallpaper, you can truly transform an outdated hand-me-down into a high-style couture cabinet.”
